I am a smoker, so I do cough alot, but I have had a cold for like the last week, and everytime I cough, I kind of pee myself. I know that sounds horrible. I have had to wear pads instead of just panty liners. Does anyone else have this problem? Please no comments at all about the smoking thing. Good or bad, I am not asking for your opinion on that so don’t give it.
Oh yes, I can relate! I don’t think you can really call it "normal", but it’s very common and not something to worry much about. It does often continue after delivery, but my OB said that if the problem only began during pregnancy, the risk of having a long-term problem is low.
The key is to do your Kegel exercises. Make sure you learn to do them right, though. The midwife who did my delivery taught me the first time, and I think she either didn’t know what she was talking about or didn’t care to explain it well. In any event, I ended up going to a physical therapist who specializes in perineal health. She showed me how to do them correctly, and it made a world of difference.
Good luck!

I would pee myself.. it only happened at the beginning of my pregnancy.. now that i am father along it doesnt happen, and now i know to clench my muscles that hold my pee when i brush my teeth so i dont have any accidents haha… I can imagine though when i am in my third trimester it will start back up again… goodluck! dont worry

I had that issue to a certain degree. It’s normal, your bladder is being pushed on. It is also normal after birth to not have the same bladder control that you once had due to the weakened muscles.

I didn’t full on pee myself, but I did leak a bit of urine throughout my whole pregnancy.

Totally normal. I had sneezing problems when I was pregnant with my daughter and all I did was pee my pants when I sneezed. I was so frustrated that I started to plug my nose whenever I was at home!

I can honestly say that yes I have had a bladder problem while pregnant. The bigger the baby grows inside the less room you have. I have laughed hard at times and urinated some while pregnant and while I have coughed. This is normal and nothing to be embarrassed about.

I didn’t have the issue before I delivered vaginally, but yeah incontinence goes with pregnancy and delivery. After having my 2nd child I got a cold that made me cough, a lot, and I was wearing pads since with two kids I just couldn’t empty my bladder all the time.
How far along are you? If it’s early, your uterus will get big enough that it’s not sitting on your bladder soon. If it’s late you’ll get that baby off your bladder in another way… Just remember to do your Kegels before you deliver so that you don’t loose bladder function when you’re not pregnant.

Yes, I’ve had that experience, perfectly normal. When I had some bad morning sickness and even sneezed that’s what happened! So don’t worry, your not the only one. There’s a lot of pressure applied on your bladder that you don’t realize when you actually sneezing, coughing, throwing up and many other things. LOL
