how long until you regained bladder control after birth?

I am guessing nearly everyone has a little trouble with this, from what I read…how long did this go on after you delivered? Did your doc warn you? Did anybody have a consistent problem with bladder control after delivery, such as a year after the birth or more?

It has been 6.5 months and I still do not have complete control. I don’t need a diaper or anything, but everytime I sneeze I pee a little. It is awful.

I drink tons of water so that might make it a little worse. My doctor never warned me about this.

continue to kegel, drink more water, and see your gyn or urologist.

While I don’t wet myself, I cannot hold my bladder the way I did pre-pregnancy. It’s been 7 years, so I assume this is permanent, just like my hemorrhoids and bigger feet.

I did my keigels daily before giving birth, and it was maybe 2 days before I regained full control over my bladder. I think there was really only one time that I ‘almost’ didn’t make it, but I think that was more due to me waiting too long. Just do your keigels and you should be fine. :)

I never had problems actually peeing myself but for the first 6 months post partum I would have this thing where all of the sudden I needed to go immediately and it seemed like the urge to pee just sort of snuck up on me. it’s been fine since then though, no problems and everything is normal.

My doctor warned me that many woman have bladder control problems for a while after giving birth. However, I have not had any issues with bladder control.

After the birth I had a catheter for 2 days- when the nurse took it out she said ‘ let me know when you pee’- she kept checking back – i just didn’t feel the need to go! She made me drink like a litre of water in an attempt toget me to go (i think fear had something todo with it too – stitches!!) it wasn’t til I went to shower and change the maternity pad that I realized- I HAD been going and just did not feel it!!!! For probably the first month I was wettingmyself Almost daily – there was just no warning!! My son is now 5 months and I still (although rarely) have accidents, sometimes when I sneeze. Lol!!
