I’m not sure if this is spraying or if he’s peeing.he has left a puddle on both my sons bed and mine but its like he does it while hes walking or just very quickly and the odor is very strong almost immediately.
It is more common in male cats than female and they have it too. Cats can get infections and/or crystals in their urine because of too much dry food (the urine becomes concentrated because of lack of moisture in the diet or stress.)
Believe me, this is a direct telegram from your cat. They absolutely KNOW it will get your attention. So he is telling you that it is painful to urinate in his box. He associates the box with the pain so he goes elsewhere to see if that will be less painful for him. So the vet check is ABSOLUTELY your #1 priority. Do not delay as you want this to stop like yesterday I know.
So take him to the vet as early on Monday as you can. Don’t even let them put you off about an appointment. Call and just insist that they take the cat and drop him off and let them attend to it when they get a chance.
In the meantime confine the cat to a bathroom with his box. You will be in for some resistance from him so be very firm and put up with it. It is imperative that he have no further opportunity to soil the house.
Go to www.littlebigcat.com and read Dr. Jean Hovfe’s articles (there are four) on this problem. I can’t reproduce all that information for you here. Dr. Hovfe and her partner do consultations on behavior problems such as this and she is an excellent writer. Then you will have the experience of a qualified veterinarian and a cat behaviorist. You can’t do much better than that and it is information given you for free.

for females only . when you are on stake out and you cant leave how do you empty or control your bladder.
Control your intake of fluids. You don’t actually need liters of water every few hours – that’s a myth.
Practice holding it. I don’t recommend this because you aren’t really training your bladder to "hold it", you’re training your mind to ignore the signal that you have to go. You can get really good at that – but it’s not good for your bladder and can cause problems later in life.
Talk to your GYN if this is a serious problem. She might make other recommendations.

Mr. Cuddles does have CRF. He is urinating while he is laying down. It appears to be a constant leak of urine. He lays in the urine. He does not move away from it. Unable to get him to the vet today, none open in my area. He does have an appointment tommorrow afternoon.
I think he is dying. He seems to be in pain. The oncall vet will not see him. Help me please.
I think your assessment is probably correct. I’m really sorry about that. Renal failure can be an awful thing.
