Hi, I'm a guy and just stumbled in by accident.
Out of interest I checked out the link of the poster above 'A few choice words about tightness'.
It reads literally :

'Even vaginal childbirth results in very few changes to the vagina. In that case, the changes to the internal configuration are extremely minimal. Some change may be noticed in the vaginal opening if serious tearing occurs or if an episiotomy is done, but again this is generally fairly minimal.'

I don't know this site, and may opinions flourish, but, having assisted childbirth, and lived with my wife afterwards, I can honestly say that if these are only extremely minimal changes to the internal configuration (sic), I hope I'll never have to see any 'real' or severe changes.

Sorry about the diatribe, please do your Kegel exercises and why not use a pelvic (Kegel) exerciser (see first poster). Worst that can happen, you might actually start enjoying it !

Good luck !
References :
They won't make your vagina tight, that's for sure. A tight vagina is a bad thing, you cannot make your vagina 'tight again' nor should you want it tight, what you want to do is regain tone in your vaginal muscles to prevent incontinence and improve your control over vaginal muscles during sex.

A Few Choice Words About "Tightness" - http://www.scarleteen.com/article/advice/a_few_choice_words_about_tightness

Pelvic floor trainers do work on those muscles, but they are totally unnecessary.
You can achieve the same thing by doing simple Kegals, all the pelvic floor trainers do is offer a little resistance - even then the resistance is very little, and there are other ways to give that resistance if you need it. I bought one out of curiosity (The Original Pelvic Toner - http://www.pelvictoner.org ), even with the hardest 'setting' there was no resistance so they were of no use what-so-ever, and the instructions basically bastardize Dr. Kegals work as you're not holding the muscles for long enough to have much of an effect at all.

You're better off just doing normal Kegals without gimmicky equipment.
Think of it like exercises, you want to buy the running machines, gym membership, the all new ab king pro or other TV advertised fitness fad equipment etc. to make exercises easier and achieve results faster, but really you need nothing more than a little room, a good pair of trainers and the commitment to put in the hard work to get exercises.

There are 2 ways to do kegels;
1. Flex muscles 10 times, do this 3 times so a total of 30, repeat this 3 times a day.
2. Flex muscles and hold for 2-4 seconds, relax for 10 seconds and keep going until you have done this 10 times, repeat this 3 times a day.
The longer you can hold the flex the better, but like any other muscles if you overdo it you'll end up aching, and not in a good way, so take it slow at first, try version 1 then move onto version 2, and work up over time to holding longer or doing it more often.

If you REALLY want to use something to help with Kegals, maybe add some resistance or help you identify your muscles while doing your Kegals so you know you're doing them right, then go for either barbells that go into your vagina for muscles to flex around, or weights you hold up with your vaginal muscles as you walk - http://www.goodvibes.com/display_category.jhtml?id=catalog70002_cat35962
References :
Yes, I have and still do (see link below).
I'm sure you're already doing your Kegels, and they definitely help to start with.
Personally, I found I still felt a bit loose and started using the Juno pelvic excerciser.
When I began I needed my hands for every move, now I can literally work it without using my hands at all.
My husband once told me that I now have a tight grip lol, no complaints there ;-)

Good luck and enjoy !
References :
http://www.benwaballs.net/juno_weighted_pelvic_exerciser.html

It's very true. It helps develop the PC or pelvic floor muscles. This aids in Bladder control and helps prevent incontinence that can come with aging. It also helps with lower back strength.
Ben Wa balls or Kegel balls are one way of exercising these muscles. Another way is to practice the "Clenching" motion on your own- it can be done anywhere, but the most FUN way is to do it during intercourse. The male partner feels the squeezing and tightening muscles, and it can also add to the power of the female orgasm!
References :
Kegel exercises are just like exercising any other muscle -- gotta keep with it over time to see gains in strength. Bicep curls right before lifting a heavy suitcase won't do much, but if you keep at it, you'll soon feel stronger. Same with Kegels. One of the primary benefits of stronger pelvic floor muscles is more intense orgasm. Oh, and another hint: doing them *during* sex will be fun for him. Have fun!
References :
i think if you do it DURING sex... you'll notice the effect. i've done this and my bf's always loved it. :) besides, the vagina stretches, elongates, and widens when you're aroused anyways so idk if kegel exercises actually change the "tightness" or not? i'm not sure. but when those muscles are stronger you can feel the difference.

i say just do it when you can, but during sex is also a winner!
